Frequently Asked Questions

Please note that when you book we will send you a direct link to detailed information on your specific unit.

Which airport should we fly into?

Kahului Maui (Code OGG)

How far from the airport are your accommodations?

Makawao is 20 min from airport.

Ma’alaea and Kihei Accommodations are 15 min. from airport.

How do we get into the unit?

All the doors have a coded lock, except the Gingerbread House, which will be unlocked with key inside.

Do you have high speed internet?

Yes, all units have high speed internet.

What is the cancellation policy?

When booking direct, you will receive an agreement that clearly spells out the cancellation policy, (which is sometimes adjusted by request). However, we collect 25-50% at the time of booking (Variable has to do with how far in advance the booking is). The full amount is collected 60 days prior to the arrival date. Deposits are not refundable unless we can rebook dates.

What fees are included in the cost?

There is a base rate per night per unit, along with a one-time cleaning and amenities fee (varies per unit), and  18.5% Hawaii State Accommodations Tax. If you pay by credit card, there is a 3% processing fee added. To avoid the 3 % charge, you can pay by check– with a credit card on file to immediately block dates while waiting for the check to arrive.

What is the Cleaning and Amenities fee for? What is included?

We provide toilet paper, paper towels, tea, coffee, coffee filters, cookies, salt/pepper and some other spices, soaps (bath/dish/laundry, shampoo/conditioner), hair dryer, iron, ironing board, bath towels, linens, beach towels, chairs, umbrella, cooler and honestly, everything we can think of that you may need. While we expect you to do basic clean up after yourselves (trash, dishes, etc), this fee covers the deeper clean between guests. It also covers small damages (broken cups/dishes, stains on towels, etc.)

Is parking free?

Parking is free at all of our accommodations. It is assigned in  the Ma’alaea condos and not-so in the Kihei unit, but not a problem to find parking.

What kind of Coffee maker is there? Is coffee provided?

We use drip coffee makers. In Ma’alaea Kai 303 and Nani Kai Hale #603 there is a keurig in the closet. We provide a canister of coffee that will get you through several days, filters, and a coffee grinder.

Can we have an early check in?

This completely depends on whether we have a same day check out and the condition of the unit when our previous guests left. Most of our guests leave our places in good shape making it easier for us to clean it more quickly than our allotted time. However, sometimes we need every minute to make it perfect for you. The best we can say is let us know what time you are hoping for and call me before coming early to see how we are doing.

Can we have a late check out?

Again, this depends on whether we have someone checking in the same day AND our cleaner’s schedule. We schedule our cleans well in advance so sometimes it isn’t possible, but if we can give you an extra hour or two, we will. If you have a red eye flight, you may want to book an extra night so you can enjoy the day, take a shower and relax before your flight.

Where is the best place to get groceries between the airport and the accommodation?

Safeway is the closest market to the airport and only a mile or so detour from your trip to the condos, and right on the way if you are staying at The Sacred Garden Accommodations. If you are a larger group or staying a while, Costco is WAY cheaper than any where else, but everything is in large quantities. Whole Foods is also in Kahului.

Once you are in Makawao the closest large market is Pukalani Foodland.

Once you are in Kihei or Ma’alaea the Safeway or Time Market in Kihei will be closest.

When is the best time to come to Maui?

There is honestly never a BAD time to come. However, the busiest times are Christmas through Easter, and June, July, August. The End of April and May are usually slower (thus often less expensive), as are Sept. October and November. We really essentially only have two seasons Summer and Winter, weather wise. Of course, Whale Season is a big deal. They start arriving in December and start leaving in April, with their highest concentrations in Jan,- March.

In Makawao, the temps are 70s-80s in the day, 50s (Dec/Jan) and 60s at night (all year round) No A/C is needed, there are fans in every room.

In Kihei and Ma’alaea, it gets into the 90s in the summer and high 70’s-80s in the winter. There is AC in all units if needed. I prefer the ocean breezes, however!

What do we do if something is not working, gets broken or we have questions?

Eve and Steve Hogan are your hosts. We live on island and are right next door to Makawao accommodations, and 30 minutes away from the Ma’alaea and Kihei units. If you have a problem WITH SOMETHING IN THE UNIT Please call us directly as we self-manage the units to ensure your best possible experience. IF you are staying in a condo and there is a problem on the grounds (broken sprinkler, or some other issue) Please contact the manager of the property. We provide their contact in our detailed information that will be sent to you once you book.
