WELCOME to the Seaside Surf Spot!
We are so happy to have you stay with us and want to be sure you have a great time here. PLEASE let us know WHILE YOU ARE HERE if there is anything we can do to make your visit more comfortable, if there is any problem or if you have any questions. It breaks our hearts to find out afterwards, when it is too late to make your stay more enjoyable.
You can find our favorite restaurants and recommended things to do as well as a list of our other accommodations (for when you return or for referring to friends!) on this web site.
Frieght Trains Surf Spot: We call this unit the “Seaside Surf Spot” because directly infront of the condo complex is the world famous “Frieght Trains” Surf Spot, which is the considered to be the world’s fastest wave. You will have great viewing from the entrance walk way….or down on the lawn.

Check In: After 4pm
If we finish cleaning early or don’t have a booking the night before we may be able to accommodate an early check in, but often won’t know until that day. Please contact me when you arrive and I’ll let you know our status.
Check Out: By 11am
If you want a later check out, please inquire well in advance as our cleaners’ schedules cannot accommodate last minute changes. Same day turnarounds prohibit late check outs. If you have a red-eye flight, you may want to reserve an extra night so you can shower and relax before you depart.
Quiet Hours:
Please note this building is shared with others and awareness is appreciated. Before 8am and after 9pm, please aim to quiet down. Please be respectful of others.
Luggage carts:
There are shopping carts available for your convenience to the next to the elevator for hauling your belongings and groceries up to the unit. Please return the carts when you are done with them.
Closest market:
Costco is right next door to airport. Safeway is just a couple miles from airport and convenient to stop at on the way to the condo. Whole Foods is also in Kahului a few miles from the airport. However, , there is a small farmer’s market a few minutes down South Kihei Road. The closest grocery stores to the condo are either Times Market on South Kihei Road or Safeway in the Piilani Shopping Village (on corner of Piilani Hwy and Piikea.
The condo is fully stocked with everything we think you will need to have an enjoyable vacation. Please let us know if we forgot anything! We provide linens, soaps (dish/body/washing machine), shampoo/conditioner, hair dryer, beach towels, beach toys, umbrella, beach chairs (PLEASE REMOVE SAND BEFORE PUTTING BACK IN THE CONDO!!!) The kitchen is also fully stocked. There is a drip coffee maker, filters, and coffee for your first few days, as well as a coffee grinder. There is also a keurig coffee maker in the closet for your use (but we do not provide keurig coffee.) There is a full stove/oven, dishwasher, full sized fridge, brita water filter, pots/pans, BBQ tools. Salt/pepper, foil, plastic wrap and some other spices.
Kitchen:
Water: Water in Hawaii is safe to drink, however, it tastes better filtered. There is a Brita water filter in the fridge. Just fill with the tap water as needed.
Dishes: The plastic dishes are dishwasher safe, but they are not microwave safe. If you need to microwave food, please put it on either paper plates. ceramic dishes or glass pans for heating in the microwave.
Stove/Oven: Please be sure to turn off burners when you are done using them and be careful not to use stove top as a counter top as the heat can melt plastic bags, etc. If you spill in the oven please clean it up as best you can and if a deeper clean is needed, please alert us so we can come prepared. IT IS BEST TO KEEP OVEN LOCKED when you aren’t using it to avoid accidentally turning it on. Be careful! I’ve accidentally turned burners on by leaning over the stove.
Dishwasher: You are welcome to use the dishwasher, however we find it convenient to just wash the dishes and use the dishwasher as a drying rack. You may find it easier also when there are only two people or small amounts of dishes. There is dishwasher soap under the sink. There is a dish rack in the sink but if it is in your way and you want to put it on the counter, please use the dish mat underneath it so it doesn’t drip on the counters. Thank you!
BBQ: There are BBQs in the pool area that you are welcome to use. There are BBQ Utensils in a drawer in the kitchen next to the stove.
PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE ANTS, OR OTHER INSECTS. The entire building gets quarterly treatments for pests, and we do our best to continuously manage them, as well. PLEASE HELP! The majority of the insects that come into the condo do so looking for food. The cleaner you keep the kitchen, the less likely they will be attracted to come in. THANK YOU!
Living Room:
A/C: There is split AC in both the livingroom and the bedroom. There are also remote controls in both rooms. PLEASE BE SURE TO CLOSE DOORS AND WINDOWS IF YOU ARE USING THE A/C. PLEASE TURN OFF THE AC when you are not home and when you check out.
Fans: There are overhead fans in both the living room and the bedroom.
SMART TV:
HDMI 1 is what is needed for Spectrum Cable TV. You need to make sure the Cable box is on. If you change the input and hook up other devices, please switch it back when you are done. The remote for the TV will run netflix and amazon prime, (if you have an account) etc. The Spectrum Remote will only operate the cable. If you enter your personal passwords please delete them when you are done.
Sofa Bed: The couch is a sofa bed. Please just move coffee table and cushions to the side and pull out. There is a mattress pad on the mattress, spare sheets are in one of the white drawers by the door (unless we already put it them on the bed), pillows, comforter/blankets are in the bedroom closet.
Beach Towels and Chairs: We offer “sand free” beach towels for your use because they do not pick up sand like terry cloth towels do. They are located on the shelf just inside the front door (across from the bathroom). The beach chairs are in the bedroom closet. PLEASE GET AS MUCH SAND OUT OF TOWELS/CHAIRS AS POSSIBLE BEFORE BRINGING BACK INTO CONDO!
Lanai:
Turtles: If you look carefully you can see the turtles swimming right up against the sea wall…very visible from lanai! If you need a “tutorial” on spotting them, I can send you a short video.
Whales: Between Dec. and April whales can be seen from the lanai. Usually their spout will be seen first. Often if you watch the boats, you will find the whales…as they are seeking them out.
PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING ON THE LANAI without weighting it down. Please be careful with napkins, etc and do not leave towels or laundry on the lanai. PLEASE, do not climb on the banisters or lean on them. If you have children PLEASE MONITOR THEM for their safety.
This is a no-smoking building and that includes the lanai. Thank you for being respectful of this rule. There is a designated smoking area right in front of our designated parking spot.
Bedroom:
Windows: Please note that while we put privacy film on the window, it is possible to see in to some extent at night, when the light is on. For full privacy, close the blinds. There is a dowel in both windows for security if you would like to leave the windows open for airflow.
Fan/light: The light switch on the closet side of the TV is for the overhead fan/lights. Once the switch is on, then you can use the pull cords on the light/fan fixture to control them.
Closet: Beach chairs, beach toys, laundry basket, suitcase holder, ironing board, pack and play, extra pillows and blankets can be found. PLEASE note that there is a “For Housekeeping Only” bag. If you use the linens in it, we will not have linens available for the turn around when you check out. PLEASE INFORM US IF YOU NEED TO USE THEM so we can plan accordingly.
Bathroom:
First Aid: There is a first aid kit in the master bathroom drawer. If you notice supplies are low, please let us know.
Hair Dryer is in the bottom vanity
Hair/skin Products: Please note that hair dye/bleach, and acne products ruin our sheets and towels. Please be aware of the products you use and wash them off before going to bed or using the towels.
Shower: Please do your best to keep the sand out of the drains and the water IN the shower!
Pool:
The key is on a Dolphin Key Chain in the sailboat on the shelf to the right as you walk in the door.
BBQ and Picnic tables are available for you near the pool. Tables are available in the breezeway as well.
Showers and foot wash are available by the pool.
Laundry:
The Laundry room is located next door to the elevator Door Code 7070. We have not used it ourselves but you can use a cc so no need for coins. I believe it is $2.50 for each wash and Drying process. Please let us know if you have any problems with it. Feel free to contact the resident manager if you need assistance. We provide a limited amount of laundry soap and a laundry basket in the bedroom closet. (If the laundry soap is not in the basket, you will likely find it under the kitchen sink or in hallway closet.)
Trash:
There is a trash near the elevator. There are larger bins on the bottom floor as well as a recycling center. There are extra trash bags in the trash can that you will discover when you pull the full trash bag out and/or under the kitchen sink. Please recycle glass and plastic bottles and cans. There are recycling bins on bottom floor in the parking structure.
Recycling:
Please recycle! There are bins on the far right hand side of the building (near our parking spot). Recycle: Plastic bottles (they don’t recycle any plastic without a “neck”, bottles, cans, and cardboard.
CONSERVATION:
We are on a small island in the middle of the ocean with limited (and therefore expensive) resources. PLEASE turn off lights and AC when you are not using, and conserve water. Thank you.
Sugar Beach!
If you walk to the end of the road (to the right as you walk out to the street) you will come to Haycraft Beach Park which is the beginning of the beautiful and walkable Sugar Beach. Please note there is no lifeguard and use wisdom and know your own limitations and abilities when going into the ocean.
Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles can often be seen in the shallows and sometimes they come up on the beach to sleep. Please do not disturb them or touch them (They are protected and come with a hefty fine…).
