Welcome to Nani Kai Hale #603

WELCOME to Ocean Lookout!

We are so happy to have you stay with us and want to be sure you have a great time here. PLEASE let us know WHILE YOU ARE HERE if there is anything we can do to make your visit more comfortable, if there is any problem or if you have any questions. It breaks our hearts to find out afterwards, when it is too late to make your stay more enjoyable.

You can find our favorite restaurants and recommended things to do as well as a list of our other accommodations (for when you return or for referring to friends!) on this web site.

A couple of things to know:

Your Hosts: Eve Hogan 808-280-5294 • Steve Hogan 808-268-3279

Password: turtles!

NO Designated Parking but please fill out parking form and put in office mail slot.

Pool Code changes regularly so I will send to you directly.

Please drive slowly and carefully, there are feral (but cared for and thus beloved) cats in the parking area.

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MAY HAVE TO PULL THE FRONT DOOR SHUT MANUALLY AS IT TENDS TO STOP JUST BEFORE LATCHING! Please be responsible for making sure the door is locked behind you! If the door doesn’t lock behind you, turn the knob inside. I believe verticle is locked and horizontal is unlocked (TEST IT!)

Check In: After 4pm

If we finish cleaning early or no one is in the unit the night before, we may be able to offer early check in. We may not know until that day so please call/text Eve when you arrive for an update on our status.

Check Out: By 11am

If you want a later check out, please inquire well in advance as our cleaners’ schedules cannot accommodate last minute changes. Same day turnarounds prohibit late check outs. If you have a red-eye flight, you may want to reserve an extra night so you can shower and relax before you depart. Check out details are at the bottom of the page.

Check In at office:

It is requested that you fill out the emergency contact, registration form (located in the rack on the table in condo) and drop it in their dropbox within 24 hours of check in. Thank you.

Quiet Hours:

Please note this building is shared with others and awareness is appreciated. Before 8am and after 9pm, please aim to quiet down. Please be respectful of others.

Shopping carts:

There are shopping carts available for your convenience to the left of the elevator for hauling your belongings and groceries up to the unit. Please return the carts when you are done with them.

Closest market:

There is a small farmer’s market a few minutes down South Kihei Road. (Turn right out of the parking, turn right on South Kihei Road and it will be the first business on the left. The closest grocery stores are either Times Market on South Kihei Road or Safeway in the Piilani Shopping Village (on corner of Piilani Hwy and Piikea.

We supply all linens, towels, beach towels, soap, shampoo/condition, enough coffee for your first few days, coffee filters, some spices/salt/pepper. Iron, ironing board, laundry basket, some laundry soap, dishwashing soap, beach chairs, umbrella (sometimes there are boogie boards/snorkels/masks that other guests have left behind. We don’t provide due to liability and size variations. Kids beach toys. We live on island so if you need something that we didn’t think of PLEASE let us know.

Kitchen:

Water: Water in Hawaii is safe to drink, however, it tastes better filtered. There is a Brita water filter in the fridge. Just fill with the tap water as needed.

Dishes: The plastic dishes are dishwasher safe, but they are not microwave safe. If you need to microwave food, please put  it on either paper plates or glass pans for heating in the microwave.

Stove/Oven:  Please be sure to turn off burners when you are done using them and be careful not to use stove top as a counter top as the heat can melt plastic bags, etc.   If you spill in the oven please clean it up as best you can and if a deeper clean is needed, please alert us so we can come prepared.

Dishwasher: You are welcome to use the dishwasher, however we find it convenient to just wash the dishes and use the dishwasher as a drying rack. You may find it easier also when there are only two people or small amounts of dishes. There is dishwasher soap under the sink. There is a dish rack in the sink but if it is in your way and you want to put it on the counter, please use the dish mat underneath it so it doesn’t drip on the counters. Thank you!

PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE ANTS, OR OTHER INSECTS.  The entire building gets quarterly treatments for pests, and we do our best to continuously manage them, as well. PLEASE HELP! The majority of the insects that come into the condo do so looking for food. The cleaner you keep the kitchen, the less likely they will be attracted to come in. THANK YOU!

BBQ: There are BBQs in the pool area that you are welcome to use. There are BBQ Utensils in a drawer in the kitchen next to the stove.

Living Room:

A/C: There is split AC in both the livingroom and the bedroom. There are manual timer switches next to the window (under the AC units) in each room. There are also remote controls BUT USE THE TIMER FIRST (changing the settings on the remote tyically makes it not work right. PLEASE BE SURE TO CLOSE DOORS AND WINDOWS IF YOU ARE USING THE A/C-including the louvers in the bathroom. PLEASE TURN OFF THE AC when you are not home and when you check out. There is a video for how to use the settings if you absolutely need to: https://youtu.be/37DhKbyicjI?si=x4-eY18FwLixVk5R

Art work: PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH THE WOODEN WHALE FINS ON THE LARGE PIECE OVER THE COUCH AS THEY CAN BREAK. PLEASE also try to avoid touching the sand on the resin piece by the dining room table. Thank you so much for protecting these special pieces.

Fans: There are overhead fans in both the living room and the bedroom.

The Coffee Table opens and rotates upward to create a dining table…if desired.

SMART TV: HDMI 1 is what is needed for Spectrum Cable TV. You need to make sure the Cable box is on.  If you change the input and hook up other devices, please switch it back when you are done. The remote for the TV will run netflix and amazon prime, (if you have an account) etc. The Spectrum Remote will only operate the cable. If you enter your personal passwords please delete them when you are done.

Sofa Bed: The couch is a sofa bed. Please just move coffee table and cushions to the side and pull out. There is a mattress pad on the mattress, spare sheets, pillows, comforter/blankets are in the Living Room Mirrored  closet.

Beach Towels and Chairs: We offer “sand free” beach towels for your use because they do not pick up sand like terry cloth towels do. They are located in the mirrored living room closet. The beach chairs are in the mirrored closet in the living room. PLEASE GET AS MUCH SAND OUT OF TOWELS/CHAIRS AS POSSIBLE BEFORE BRINGING BACK INTO CONDO!

Lanai:

The lanai is on the windward side of the building and the winds come up every afternoon in the summer. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING ON THE LANAI without weighting it down. Please be careful with napkins, etc and do not leave towels or laundry on the lanai. PLEASE ALSO BE MINDFUL THAT THIS IS THE SIXTH FLOOR. Do not climb on the banisters or lean on them. If you have children PLEASE MONITOR THEM for their safety.

This is a no-smoking building and that includes the lanai. Thank you for being respectful of this rule.

In the event of high winds, there are bungies in the unit for securing the outdoor furniture to the rail. There is also a lantern in the event of a power outage, (Both are located in living room closet.)

Bedroom:

Canopy bed: Please do not hang wet towels from the canopy bed as it will ruin the wood. The Canopy wood is decorative and NOT DESIGNED TO SUPPORT WEIGHT so please do not hang or swing from them. (Sorry that this needs to be said!!)

A/C: The timer is on the wall next to the window, under AC unit USE TIMER TO TURN AC ON.

Bathrooms:

Master Bathroom Closet: The full length mirror in the master bathroom is actually a closet. There are some extra amenities for you (iron, laundry basket, extra pillows, linens).

First Aid: There is a first aid kit in the master bathroom drawer. If you notice supplies are low, please let us know.

Hair Dryer is in the master bathroom in the bottom drawer.

Hair/skin Products: Please note that hair dye/bleach, and acne products ruin our sheets and towels. Please be aware of the products you use and wash them off before going to bed or using the towels. If you need towels that are okay to ruin, we leave a couple in the livingroom closet.

In the entry way bathroom, extra towels are in the vanity.

Amenities available at Nani Kai Hale

Pool:

The code changes regularly so I will send it to you with the check in information. Please contact me if I did not do so. 808-280-5294. The same code opens the bathroom.

BBQ and Picnic tables are available for you on the bottom level near the pool

Showers and foot wash is also available on the walkway to the beach.

Laundry:

The Laundry room is located next door to the elevator (on each floor). We have not used it ourselves but you can use a cc so no need for coins. I believe it is $2.50 for each wash and Drying process. Please let us know if you have any problems with it. Feel free to contact the resident manager if you need assistance. We provide a limited amount of laundry soap and a laundry basket in the mirrored closet in the master bathroom. (If the laundry soap is not in the basket, you will likely find it in the mirrored closet in the living room.)

Trash:

There is a trash shoot just inside the laundry room (which is next to the elevator.) There are larger bins on the bottom floor in the parking structure. There are extra trash bags in the trash can that you will discover when you pull the full trash bag out. In the event that they are not there, there should be a box of them on the bottom shelf inside the mirrored closet in the living room, or under the kitchen sink. Please recycle glass and plastic bottles and cans. There are recycling bins on bottom floor in the parking structure.

Recycling:

PLEASE RECYCLE Plastic bottles (they don’t recycle any plastic without a “neck”, bottles, cans, cardboard. Recycling bins are found in the parking structure. Thank you.

Conservation:

We are on an island with limited (and therefore expensive) resources. Please turn off AC and lights when you aren’t home, close windows when using AC and conserve water.

Sugar Beach!

Right in front of the building is access to miles of beautiful beach. Please note there is no lifeguard and use wisdom and know your own limitations and abilities when going into the ocean.

The code changes regularly so I will send it to you with the check in information. Please contact me if I did not do so. 808-280-5294.

Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles can often be seen in the shallows and sometimes they come up on the beach to sleep. Please do not disturb them or touch them (They are protected and come with a hefty fine…).
